Who we are
Kwalata Private Game Lodge is situated in the Big 5 Dinokeng Game Reserve in the northern corner of Gauteng, next to the N1 Highway - easily accessible by tar road. The 20,000 ha indigenous bushveld and grassland Reserve accommodates all of the big five free-roaming and offers great plains game viewing & more than 300 bird species. It is the perfect malaria-free stop-over, only 1/2 hour drive from Pretoria and 1-hour drive north of OR Tambo International Airport. Your ideal “first night’s stay” upon arrival in South Africa. Kwalata Game lodge (3-star Fairtrade graded) comprises of the Kubu a la carté Restaurant, Church, 2 Spacious Conference and spacious Dining Facilities – Hadida seats up to 120 delegates, Elephant Boma with its own Bar, Buffet, Dancefloor, Fireplace for up to 200 guests, Wildebeest Campfire Lapa & Buffet for 80 guests, Nkwe Group Restaurant with Bar & Buffet accommodating 150 people, Stone Chapel seats 200 guests, Arts & Crafts Curio Shop, Wildlife Game Drives Safaris with qualified FAGASA Guides, Guided Bush Walks and MBT Rides.
Kwalata Game Lodge has 31 air-conditioned rooms, with a true African Ambiance, all with private bathroom and/or shower facilities, accommodating a total of 90 guests. We are a owner managed Fair Trade accredited lodge.
Our friendly staff and South African hospitality will ensure a memorable experience, with Self Catering and Full Board tariff includes Dinner, Bed & Breakfast and Lunch or enjoy our on-site a la carté Restaurant & Bar and “Kids-on-Safari” Play Area for the kids.
Kwalata Game Lodge is the ideal family and corporate group venue, offers events, conferences, team-building, weddings and all functions, which can cater up to 200 people, in spacious thatched venues. Bushveld weddings are a speciality and the stone thatched chapel, “river or tree” church and campfire reception will ensure a unforgettable experience.
Activities like Game Drives, Game Walks, MBT Rides, Township & Cultural Tours adds up to the experience.
All 31 Kwalata rooms comprises of its own air-conditioning unit, en-suite bathrooms, tea/coffee making facilities and Free Wi-Fi. Our collection consist with different option like Self Catering with braai facilities, Full Board Options, as well as private Boma and Kitchen facilities options.
The Dinokeng Game Reserve offers free roaming Big 5 - Lions, Rhinos, Leopards, Elephants and Buffalo and all plains game in a malaria-free Reserve.
We offer Guided Game Drives, Guided Bush Walks, Guided MTB Rides. Our In-house facilitators present recreational team fun filled team building programs. Program will be tailor made to suit the team's outcome and objectives.
Kwalata offer Township Cultural Tours to the vibrant Hammanskraal community we visit the gifted artists at the Dinokazi Arts and craft centre, experience traditional Tshwana dancing and drumming, be entertained in true township style, visit a development centre with the option to participate (We design and tailor made programs for groups to suit outcome and objectives), we enjoy the best local cuisine served with true African hospitality!
Kwalata Adventure Camp accommodates up to 200 students and offers bunk bed log cabins. Our In-house qualified facilitators present Environmental education, Leadership & Adventure fun filled programs.
The Kwalata Community Development Initiative (KCDI) offers an array of opportunities to participate in community development programs. Experience how tourism and conservation build relationships and establish partnerships leading to amazing development! We support community entrepreneurs with the development of their infrastructure. Day-care centre development is a focus and we have built classrooms, kitchens and ablutions. Old age homes have been developed and assisted especially with infrastructure development. Artists and Performance are guided and developed and exposed to various tourism lodge community performance making the way to build life skills.
Tailors made development programs are designed to suit company or groups development outcomes.
We have Hand-in Washing Facilities available. Bring a light jacket for Summer Evenings & Warm Jacket for Winter. The average morning temperature is 6°C/42°F. Afternoons will be pleasant with temperatures around 23-25°C/73-77°F. September – The heat gradually builds to about 28°C/82°F in the afternoons, and the first rains bring relief from very dry conditions. The rain season is normally from September - February, with normally quick thunderstorms and than sky is clearing up again, quite fast. Mornings are pleasant as well, around 12°C/53°F.

Our aim is to establish the Dinokeng region as a world class tourist destination. The location of the Dinokeng Game Reserve in the financial hub of South Africa – Gauteng, borders the Limpopo province, North-west province, and Mpumalanga. The Game Lodge, central in establishing this goal. We have managed to meet our goal in the combination of tourism, conference venue, corporate networking, community involvement and being part of an environmental and tourist destination.
